Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 2026-05-09
Find Land Surveyor, operated by Nathaniel Peters, an individual residing in the Province of Quebec, Canada is committed to making findlandsurveyor.com accessible to the broadest possible audience, including people with disabilities. This statement explains the standards we target, what we have implemented, what remains in progress, and how to reach us about an accessibility barrier.
1. Standard we target
We aim for substantial conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. WCAG 2.1 AA is the most widely adopted accessibility standard for public-facing web content and is referenced in laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 of the US Rehabilitation Act, the European Accessibility Act, and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
2. What we have implemented
- Semantic HTML: pages use proper heading hierarchy (h1, h2, h3), landmark elements (nav, main, footer, aside), and meaningful link text.
- Keyboard navigation: the entire site, including the multi-step estimate request form, is operable with a keyboard alone.
- Colour contrast: body text and key UI elements meet the WCAG 4.5:1 contrast ratio against their backgrounds.
- Form labels: every form input has an associated label, placeholder, or accessible description.
- Responsive layout: pages reflow cleanly down to mobile widths and up to large desktop widths without loss of content or functionality.
- Reduced motion: we do not use auto-playing video, parallax effects, or rapidly flashing elements.
- Alt text: icons that convey meaning include accessible labels or are paired with visible text. Decorative SVGs are not announced by screen readers.
3. Known limitations
We are honest about what is not yet complete:
- Some third-party widgets (for example, the Mapbox address auto-complete on the estimate request form) inherit accessibility behaviour from the vendor. We monitor vendor releases for improvements but do not control these directly.
- We have not yet completed a formal WCAG 2.1 AA audit by an independent accessibility consultant. We plan to conduct one once the site reaches a stable scale.
- Older content templates may not yet reflect the latest accessibility improvements. Corrections are prioritized when reported.
4. Report an accessibility barrier
If you encounter a barrier on findlandsurveyor.com, please tell us. We treat accessibility reports as priority issues and respond within five business days.
Email: [email protected]
Please include the URL of the page, a description of the barrier, the assistive technology you were using (if any), and any suggestion for a fix. The more specific the report, the faster we can act.
5. Continuous improvement
Accessibility is treated as an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-time project. New templates and features are reviewed against the standard above before they ship. This statement is reviewed at least annually and updated as conditions change.
